Young Actors Theatre Camp – “Seussical Kids” – Musical
About This Camp
NBT is excited to announce Session #3 of our Young Actor’s Theatre Camp at the Spectrum Theater: “Seussical KIDS: The Musical.” With our move to a larger performance space, this colorful and high-energy production will be bigger, bolder, and more imaginative than ever before.
Camp runs daily from 8:30am to 3:30pm and provides a full theatre experience filled with acting games, vocal music rehearsals, choreography, and confidence-building activities. Just like our past camps, students will grow in self-confidence, creativity, and teamwork as they collaborate to prepare a fully staged 30-minute musical to perform for family and friends on the final day at the Spectrum Theater.
In Seussical KIDS, Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, and all your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life in a fantastical musical extravaganza by Tony Award-winning composers Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Guided by the mischievous Cat in the Hat, audiences travel from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus as Horton discovers a tiny speck of dust containing the Whos — including Jojo, a Who child with a powerful imagination.
Horton must protect the Whos from doubters and dangers while also caring for an abandoned egg left in his charge by the carefree Mayzie La Bird. Along the way, he faces ridicule, peril, and even a trial — but with the loyal support of Gertrude McFuzz, the story becomes a heartwarming celebration of friendship, loyalty, family, and community. Through unforgettable songs, lively characters, and imaginative storytelling, campers will explore the power of believing in others and in themselves.
Young Actor’s Theatre Camp is the perfect place for students who love to sing, act, move, and create in a supportive, high-energy environment. We can’t wait to see our young performers bring the world of Dr. Seuss to life on the Spectrum Theater stage. Register early — spots fill quickly!

Frequently Asked Questions
What age range is for your youth camps?
Our camp ages are pretty flexible, but we generally recommend 1st grade through 8th grade. If you have questions about whether the camp is the right fit for your child’s age, please feel free to contact our Education Department, as we’re always happy to help!
What will my child be doing each day?
Each day is packed with creativity and fun! On the first day, we hold friendly, low-stress auditions so everyone gets a role that fits them. Throughout the week, campers take part in rehearsals, acting games and warm ups. They work together to create sets and costumes, enjoy hands-on crafts, and focus on final performance prep, all leading up to a fully staged show on the last day of camp!
Is there a final performance or showcase?
Yes! There is a final performance of our show on the last day of camp. Campers will get the exciting opportunity to showcase everything they’ve learned and worked on throughout the week for family and friends. It’s a fun, celebratory way to wrap up camp and let our young performers shine on stage!
Do I need any theater experience to join?
Our Young Artist Theater Camps are designed to welcome campers of all stages! Whether stepping onstage for the very first time or already loving to perform, our skilled teachers and counselors meet each child where they are, help build confidence, and make sure everyone has a fun, supportive, and creative experience!
