Young Actors Theatre Camp – “A Mixed Up Fairytale” – Play
About This Camp
NBT is thrilled to announce that Young Actor’s Theatre Camp is back — and this year we’re taking the stage at the Spectrum Theater on the campus of GRCC! With a larger performance space and room for even bigger productions, this summer promises to be our most exciting camp yet!
Camp runs daily from 8:30am to 3:30pm and is packed with high-energy acting games, creative movement, character development, and ensemble-building activities. Just like in our past camps, students will build self-confidence, strengthen teamwork skills, and grow as performers in a fun, supportive environment. Throughout the session, campers work together to rehearse and prepare a fully staged 30-minute production that will be performed for family and friends on the final day — under the lights at the Spectrum Theater.
Our first session is “A Mixed Up Fairy Tale – The Play,” a hilarious one-act comedy with plenty of roles for a large cast. When the Grimm Brothers are writing late into the night, a sudden gust of wind blows their fairy tale pages everywhere, and the stories become completely mixed up. In Wilhelm’s dreams, Cinderella ends up at Rapunzel’s tower, visits the Seven Dwarves’ cottage, and meets bears, pigs, witches, and other familiar characters who are just as confused as she is. After a series of silly adventures, they all finally make their way to the royal ball for a fairy tale celebration and a happily-ever-after with a twist.
Young Actor’s Theatre Camp is the perfect place for students who love to imagine, perform, and make new friends while building confidence on stage. We can’t wait to see our young actors shine in our new home at the Spectrum Theater. Be sure to register early — spots fill quickly!

Frequently Asked Questions
What age range is for your youth camps?
Our camp ages are pretty flexible, but we generally recommend 1st grade through 8th grade. If you have questions about whether the camp is the right fit for your child’s age, please feel free to contact our Education Department, as we’re always happy to help!
What will my child be doing each day?
Each day is packed with creativity and fun! On the first day, we hold friendly, low-stress auditions so everyone gets a role that fits them. Throughout the week, campers take part in rehearsals, acting games and warm ups. They work together to create sets and costumes, enjoy hands-on crafts, and focus on final performance prep, all leading up to a fully staged show on the last day of camp!
Is there a final performance or showcase?
Yes! There is a final performance of our show on the last day of camp. Campers will get the exciting opportunity to showcase everything they’ve learned and worked on throughout the week for family and friends. It’s a fun, celebratory way to wrap up camp and let our young performers shine on stage!
Do I need any theater experience to join?
Our Young Artist Theater Camps are designed to welcome campers of all stages! Whether stepping onstage for the very first time or already loving to perform, our skilled teachers and counselors meet each child where they are, help build confidence, and make sure everyone has a fun, supportive, and creative experience!
